The leader makes the company right? I mean, what the leader insights are reflected in his/her company product or services. Well I can’t help noticing Bill Gates annoying outfits during his keynote on PDC 05 (left):
I’m not a fashion nut, but please! Drop that and nerdy baggy trousers William Henry Gates III! It makes you looks like a…. nerd my grandfather, and no I’m not interested to buy something designed by somebody 50 years older than me.. Compare him to Steve Jobs’ (right) trendy wardrobe.
I think the distinction is pretty visible, one is trying to sell lifestyle oriented technology and the other one is trying to sell user experience with a hint of nerdyness in mind.
Addendum:
Although Bill Gates looks nerdy, but his outfit is squeaky clean, which is nice. But MSFT’s Plattform Vice Manager, Jim Allchin seems to push nerdyness to a higher level:
Worn belt, dirty jeans and aged badly-tucked denim shirt….sheessh! Not exacly a great representative.
PS: Sorry for excessive Microsoft hyperlinks.
Well, I’m no Microsoft fanboy but this is PDC. And do you remember what D in PDC stands for? Yep, you got it right: Developer.
Speaking about nerdiness and what some person trying to sell by lookin out of her/his outfit, have you see KDE’s Malaga Conference. There’s one presentation given by a person waering short jeans. A non-special t-shirt. And overall look is, he’s skinny and has no style at all :p.
Bill Gates? Sure do he look like you grandpa’. But nerd? I have better person to describe nerd :p
mm..
piye yo mon…

Oh no, so all this time i was looking like a grandpa too :(
Okay then, i’ll wear a T-shirt and jeans to uni tomorrow, no matter how cold this beginning of spring is…
