Today marks the 11th day since I bought iPod mini. Yeah baby! iPod as in expensive fashionable almost-unecessary mp3-player. iPod as in Steve Job’s favorite cash cow.
The verdict? Well the 3,7Gb hard disk space (its not 4Gb as advertised) seems to be more than enough even though my music collection is 6,7 Gb (Yeah not exactly big, but need to remind you that it is very well organized?). The click wheel is slick as it always be.
And of course there’s the signature white earphone, which is really uber cool. But unlike Paris Hilton, it’s beauty is skin deep, because not only the sound is natural & laid back, I also noticed that this little sucker’s frequency response is pretty flat (which is good). For non-audiophile geek out there: flat response means the earphone is capable to reproduce even sound in the frequency range every single detail of the sound, which means your musics will sound great in high volume, low volume, mid volume, or whatever volume it is. With bad speakers you are often forced to crank the volume to a ridiculous level just because the sound doesn’t sound right on low volume.
Interestingly, while most of my music collections sounds great on it, I noticed that the songs from Phantom of the Opera seems to lose its magic. Gerard Butler’s rendition of Music of the Night, for example, doesn’t sound as lush as it were on my Xda. Or maybe it’s just my feeling. Still a great gadget though.
Anyway, just 7 days since I purchased this gadget, Apple decided to discontinue iPod mini and replace it with its evil newborn sibling: iPod nano, the sleek varient equipped with colour display, smaller size, and the exact same price tag as iPod mini!
Damn you Steve Jobs! Go to hell!
finally, a decent court for your ipod. So, guilty as charged?
